NovaMedSpa.com is committed to editorial integrity, factual accuracy, and full transparency about how this publication operates and earns revenue. This page explains our editorial standards, our research methodology, our affiliate relationships, and the limitations of the information we publish.
Affiliate Disclosure
NovaMedSpa.com earns money through affiliate partnerships. Here is exactly what that means:
Many of the product reviews, device evaluations, and telehealth assessments published on this site contain links that direct to the manufacturer's or provider's website. These are affiliate links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, NovaMedSpa.com may receive a commission from the seller at no additional cost to you.
This financial relationship exists between NovaMedSpa.com and the brands or affiliate networks — it does not cost you anything extra, and it does not change the price you pay for any product or service.
Our affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial analysis. Products with generous affiliate programs receive the same level of scrutiny as products with no affiliate program at all. We have published critical assessments of products with strong commissions and favorable assessments of products with no affiliate revenue attached. Our editorial conclusions are determined by the published evidence, not by revenue potential.
When an article or product page contains affiliate links, you will see a disclosure notice within the content itself — typically placed after the first major section and before any affiliate links appear. Product shop pages include a disclosure at the top of the product description.
How We Evaluate Products
The NovaMedSpa.com Wellness Desk follows a consistent editorial framework for evaluating products and services:
Published research review. For every product category, our editorial team reviews the available peer-reviewed literature on the relevant active ingredients, wavelengths, mechanisms, or therapeutic modalities. We prioritize systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and randomized controlled trials. We cite specific studies when they inform our analysis.
Evidence classification. We distinguish between four categories of evidence in our content: (1) Established clinical evidence from well-designed human trials, (2) Preliminary research findings from early-stage or small-scale studies, (3) Ingredient-level or mechanism-level evidence that has not been tested in the specific finished product being reviewed, and (4) Marketing claims made by the brand that are not supported by independent research. When we reference evidence, we identify which category it falls into.
Realistic expectations. We assess what a typical consumer can realistically expect from a product based on the available evidence, not based on best-case marketing scenarios or cherry-picked testimonials. When individual results are likely to vary significantly, we say so. When a product's claims outpace its evidence, we say that too.
Safety and contraindications. For products and services that carry meaningful safety considerations — including prescription medications accessed through telehealth, red light therapy devices, and supplements with drug interaction potential — we include relevant safety information and recommend consultation with a healthcare provider.
Red Light Therapy Device Evaluation Standards
Given our editorial focus on photobiomodulation, we apply additional evaluation criteria to red light therapy devices:
Wavelength verification. Does the device emit at clinically studied wavelengths (typically 630–660nm for red light and 810–850nm for near-infrared)? Devices that do not disclose their exact wavelength specifications are flagged.
Power density (irradiance). What is the device's output in milliwatts per square centimeter (mW/cm²) at the recommended treatment distance? Published research indicates therapeutic effects typically occur at 20–200 mW/cm². Devices that do not disclose irradiance are flagged.
Evidence-appropriate claims. Does the device market itself for applications supported by published research at its specific wavelength and power output? A 660nm-only device marketed for deep joint pain, for example, warrants scrutiny — 660nm penetrates approximately 2–3mm into tissue and is best suited for surface-level applications, while deeper joint relief typically requires 810–850nm near-infrared wavelengths.
Product Shop Disclosure
NovaMedSpa.com maintains a product shop featuring curated wellness products with editorial descriptions and links to official manufacturer websites. Every product in the shop is linked through an affiliate relationship. When you click “Buy From The Official Website” on any product page and make a purchase, NovaMedSpa.com earns a commission.
Prices displayed in the product shop are approximate and sourced from the manufacturer's website at the time of listing. Prices are subject to change without notice. Always verify current pricing on the manufacturer's official website before purchasing.
Inclusion of a product in our shop does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of that product's safety or efficacy. Product descriptions include our editorial perspective based on available information, but readers should conduct their own research and consult healthcare providers before making purchase decisions — particularly for health-related products.
